Maintenance of bamboo products or components are quite easy. Similiar to wood products in general. Bamboo does not need any special treatment in order to make it more durable and long lasting. However, wherever possible bamboo components should be protected from moisture and water in order to avoid it being attacked by fungus. Although it has been preserved if continuously exposed to humidity , over time the bamboo material will be broken and decayed . A simple way to keep it last longer is to provide coating, either natural coatings like resin or chemical coating products such as varnish and propane .
For outdoor bamboo component coating should be done more frequently and regularly to ensure it protected from infiltration of water and sunlight which can cause cracking and breaking. It is is recommended at least once a year to give a special coating for outdoor bamboo .
